The report is based on three rounds of assessment and review of PMJDY, conducted by MicroSave between October 2014 and December 2015, surveying BMs and customers. The objective of these assessments was to analyse and assess the impact of and challenges associated with PMJDY, for beneficiaries as also for BMs. In total, over the three rounds of survey, 5,366 BMs and 18,162 customers were interviewed across 17 states and one union territory.
The first assessment (Wave-I) was conducted in November and December 2014 across 41 districts in 9 states, wherein a total of 2,039 BM locations and 8,789 beneficiaries were surveyed. BMs were assessed on dimensions such as availability, transaction readiness, dormancy etc.
The second assessment (Wave-II) of BMs under PMJDY was conducted by MicroSave during April-May 2015 with an objective to provide a comparable analytical framework with Wave-I. Wave-II covered a total sample of 1,700 BMs and 4,514 PMJDY customers in similar geographies (as Wave-I) of 9 states and 41 districts.
